Color Powder Information

The colored dye powders used for the Indy Color Me Fun Run are non-toxic, skin-safe, environmentally friendly, and biodegradable. Made primarily from corn starch and baking soda, most colors are completely washable; however, please consider the following suggestions to keep your skin, hair, and clothes from temporary color staining:

- Oil (coconut or olive) or leave-in conditioner in your hair will help prevent the color from staining your scalp and hair.
- Vaseline or moisturizer lotions on your skin will help prevent color from staining your skin.
- Wash with COLD water after participating, as warm water will cause staining and dye setting.
- Protective eye wear such as sunglasses are recommended during the event.
- Shake out as much dry powder as possible before applying water.
- Mouth coverings such as bandanas or towels are recommended to prevent breathing in the dye powders.
- Powder launch station volunteers are instructed to aim below the neck/chest when distributing powder along the course.
- If you would like to participate but would like to avoid the dyes, listen at the starting line for the official "no dye" signal so you can communicate with the course volunteers who will be distributing the powders.
